Shukei Jigyo relocated 3 old earthen storehouses that belonged to a sugar wholesaler from the Taisho and beginning of Showa eras, made use of 2 pre-existing buildings, and built one from scratch, creating the Masuichi Kyakuden lodgings with the help of a local construction company. The interior is furnished in a Western style. It is a fusion of a refurbished Japanese-style framework and a completely Western interior. During this time we have gained many skills and acquired much skill and confidence for coming projects. We are looking forward to the future.

We were able to rent a mercantile house from the Taisho era within Obuse. For a long time it had been used as a photo studio. Now it is being reborn as the Shukei Jigyo headquarters, a combination of office and workspace, and we think that when it is finished it might also serve as a sample of or perhaps showroom of Shukei Jigyo’s work.

When Yakushido underwent repairs to its foundation during Showa 21-22 ink writings were discovered proving that the structure was built in Oei 15 (1408) during the start of the Muromachi period, and it was named a national Important Cultural Asset.
Its thatched gabled roof, and especially the richly-colored Buddhist pictures left on wooden walls, and designs atop the pillars in the inner temple are highly valued as brilliant representatives of early Muromachi architecture. To prepare for its 600th anniversary in 2008 we re-thatched the roof, the first time it has been done in 30 years.
