In general thatched roofs are made with either hay or wheat. Because of the ease in obtaining materials at the time of construction Obuse had no small number of houses with wheat-thatched roofs. However considering the state of materials in the present and for the future, we think hay is the most suitable for roofs.
There is a mountain of topics to be resolved, such as obtaining hay fields, getting the hay itself, and locations and methods for storing it, but Shukei Jigyo is prepared to tackle them head on.
